Mineralization or the formation of carbonate-rocks is a way to permanently store CO2. But the main disadvantage is the slow process (a truly geological process). One way to accelerate the reaction kinetics is by using a so-called "Gravity Pressure Vessel". This is studied by an academic/industrial consortium. One of the research questions is the rheological behavior of an olivine, CO2 and water mixture in such a high pressure/high temperature equipment. An additional question is the characterization of the reaction products of this process. Both of these research questions are studied by using the high pressure rheology meter of FAST as an autoclave. The applications of the research are highlighted.
