A turbulent flow does in general not only advect vortices, but does also stretch them. The question we address in this talk is what happens if the vorticity is not stretched. We consider two cases. First we discuss a flow where we artificially suppress vortex stretching. Second, we focus on a more realistic flow where vortex stretching is naturally absent. Helical motion is shown to play an important role in both systems.
